Micro-mobility service provider Beam Mobility has announced an upcoming Merdeka promotion which is set to commence from 27 August until 16 September 2022. During this period, the company is offering up to 50% discount on all of its e-scooter rides that begin from selected public transportation hubs across Malaysia.
Beam says riders will be able to enjoy its micro-mobility service for just RM 0.30 per minute, which translates to a 33% discount for off-peak hours and 50% off during peak hours. Specifically, the former ranges from 6 am to 6 pm on weekdays, while the latter begins only from 6 pm to 6 am on both weekdays and entire weekends.
However, again keep in mind that the 50% Merdeka promo only applies to rides that begin from selected public transportation hub spots. According to Beam, these include all major LRT, MRT and monorail stations in the Klang Valley region, among others. When reached out for clarification, the company informed us that it will provide a complete list of locations later this week.
Apart from the discount, Beam is also offering RM 2 credit to riders who end their e-scooter trips by parking at their designated parking spots. In other words; properly returning or parking the vehicles will land you a decent reward, which is a good thing.
Even if you’ve never used Beam’s service before, we’re sure that you’ve seen their purple-coloured electric two-wheelers around. This is especially at train stations or certain popular locations, where a row of the company’s scooters can be found parked nearby.
Using the micro-mobility service is pretty simple, as all you have to do is download the Beam mobile app, book an available e-scooter by scanning its QR code, and then tap the app’s “GO” button to initiate. Of course, you’re also required to create an account and register a preferred payment method in the process, as well as ensure that your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled. Further information can be found on the FAQ page on Beam’s official website.
