OPPO has unveiled yet another entry to its Reno8 series with a new 4G-only variant, which recently debuted in Indonesia. Based on the spec sheet, the phone is equipped with a slightly less powerful chipset than the 5G model, but features a larger megapixel count for its primary camera.
In terms of design, the OPPO Reno8 4G closely resembles the original model – with the exception of its rear camera arrangement; which features a two-toned vertical island instead of a bump that is integrated to the rear case. In front, the phone sports a flat 6.43-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ (2400 x 1080 px) resolution and up to 90Hz refresh rate. According to OPPO Indonesia, this particular model also features an under-display fingerprint scanner for verification.
Specs-wise, found under its hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 octa-core chipset that is paired together with an Adreno 610 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB internal storage. As with most smartphones from the company, the Reno8 4G also comes with expanded memory support via microSD as well as OPPO’s Memory Expansion Technology which can convert storage capacity into additional RAM.
Besides that, the phone features the same 4,500 mAh battery capacity as the 5G variant. However, the supported fast charging capability on this model has been lowered down to 33W instead of 80W, and also absent is the reverse charging feature.
And as mentioned earlier, the OPPO Reno8 4G is equipped with a different triple camera setup, which consists of a larger 64 MP Sony IMX709 primary sensor, a 2MP macro with 30x zoom, and a 2MP mono. Meanwhile, housed within the punch-hole camera cutout on its display is a 32MP selfie camera.
For its Indonesian release, the OPPO Reno8 4G is sold at a more affordable price tag of IDR 4,999 (~RM 1,513) and is offered in either Dawnlight Gold or Starlight Black colour options. It is not known whether the company is planning to release the phone in other markets at this time.
