Lenovo has launched several new seventh-generation Legion gaming laptops in Malaysia. Coming in the form of Legion 5, Legion 5i, Legion 5 Pro, and Legion 5i Pro, these powerful devices run on the latest processors from Intel and AMD.
For starters, the Legion 5i Pro is powered by 12th Gen Intel Core processors while the Legion 5 Pro utilizes the AMD Ryzen 6000 series CPUs. Both can be configured with up to 32GB of RAM, but it differs when it comes to storage capacity with the 5i Pro maxing out at 2TB while the 5 Pro can only be fitted with up to 1TB.
As for the graphics, users have the option to equip them with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3070, or RTX 3070 Ti. These laptops also come with a good selection of I/O ports including two USB-C, three USB-A, an HDMI, an RJ45 Ethernet, and an audio jack although only the 5i Pro gets an additional Thunderbolt 4 port.
When it comes to the display, the base model of the 5 Pro gets a 16-inch 16:10 FHD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. However, this can be upgraded to a WQHD panel with up to a 240Hz adaptive refresh rate. They are also fitted with only a 720p webcam and a camera e-shutter for privacy but lacked a fingerprint scanner and IR scanner for facial login.
Moving on the vanilla series, the Legion 5i and Legion 5 are similarly powered by the latest Intel and AMD processors respectively. Both can be configured with up to 1TB of storage but this time, the memory capacity differs with the 5i being limited to 16GB of RAM while the Legion 5 can go up to 32GB.
Both the 5 and 5i come with a 15.6-inch 16:9 FHD IPS display with a 60Hz refresh rate, but it can be upgraded to a WQHD display with a 165Hz refresh rate. These gaming machines lack any biometric sensors as well and only come with a 720p webcam.
Both laptops also carry the same ports as their respective Pro counterparts, with the 5i getting the upper hand with support for Bluetooth 5.2 while the 5 only gets Bluetooth 5.1. As you may expect from gaming laptops that are released in 2022, all four Legion 5 and Legion 5 Pro models support Wi-Fi 6E.
In case you are wondering how to differentiate between the standard Legion 5 and its Pro counterpart, pay close attention to the placement of the Legion logo on their lids as the standard model is located on the side while the Pro model is on the top centre alongside.
Furthermore, the Pro model also has an angled line decoration on its lid. Additionally, the thermal vents of both series also looked rather different.
These new Legion 5 and Legion 5 Pro Series gaming laptops are available for purchase at Lenovo Malaysia’s online store as well as its official stores on Shopee and Lazada. The starting prices are RM5,299 for the Lenovo Legion 5, RM5,999 for the Legion 5i, RM7,399 for the Legion 5 Pro, and RM8,499 for the Legion 5i Pro.
