Samsung has just kicked off yet another Unpacked event moments ago which marked the official arrival of several new Galaxy devices including the Galaxy Z Flip4. Building upon the foundation set by last year’s Z Flip3, the new model may look no different from its predecessor.
Once you take a closer look though, you may then begin to notice that there were some tweaks on its exterior which now features flatter edges. Samsung also noted that the Z Flip4 now carries a slimmer hinge although the phone’s thickness is still identical to the Z Flip3 which is between 17.1 to 15.9mm when folded and 6.9mm when fully opened.
The new model is also a few grams heavier than its predecessor but then again, the Z Flip4 does feature a larger 3700mAh battery as opposed to the 3300mAh battery on the Z Flip3. The Super Fast Charging feature on the new phone allows it to regain 50% of its battery capacity when charged using a power adapter with at least a 25W power rating but users have to purchase the charger separately.
Aside from the increased battery capacity, the Z Flip4 is also powered by the relatively new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. However, 8GB RAM continues to remain the only memory configuration for the new foldable which is similar to last year’s model.
Samsung has also retained the usage of a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz main screen and 1.9-inch 260 x 512 Super AMOLED Cover Screen for the Z Fold 4. The company also continues to utilise the durable Armor Aluminium material for the phone’s chassis while the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ from the Galaxy S22 Series has also been implemented on its Cover Screen and rear body area to ensure the durability of the IPX8-rated foldable.
Nothing really changed to the Z Fold4’s camera too since the phone still relies on a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera and a 12MP f/1.8 Dual Pixel camera on its back which is identical to its predecessor. The similarity also applies to the phone’s front camera since it still has a 10MP f/2.4 camera like Z Fold3.
That being said, Samsung claimed that the Z Flip4 does feature a 65% brighter sensor thanks to Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor that has been equipped with the new phone. Of course, the company did not forget to implement the series’ signature feature, the Flex mode into the new model.
In case you are not familiar with it, the Flex mode allows users to leave the Z Flip4 open at 75 to 115 degrees. From here, one can easily snap a selfie or group photos without a tripod and you can also utilise the Cover Screen as a viewfinder to help you properly position yourself for the photo or even video.
