LG has unveiled three new entries to its TONE Free earbuds line-up. The first being the flagship T90 model, whereas the remaining two – consisting of the TF7 and TF8 – are part of the new sports-oriented TONE Free Fit sub-variant.
As with the previous earbuds under the series, the included charging cases for all three models feature the built-in LG UVnano technology that is claimed to be capable of killing 99.9% of bacteria. In addition, these cases can also double as a Bluetooth transmitter that lets you add wireless connectivity to certain devices such as a radio, treadmill and so on via the included USB-C to AUX cable.
According to LG, the new TONE Free T90 flagship earbuds come with a slew of upgrades over its predecessor. These include a new internal structure with larger drivers for deeper bass, the use of graphene material that reduces vibration while boosting audio quality, as well as Headphone Spatial Processing (HSP) and Perfect Balance technologies developed by Meridian Audio. Also onboard is the Snapdragon-developed Sound Technology Suite that is claimed to offer users to experience “a level of sound quality previously only available on wired headphones.”
On top of featuring Dolby Atmos support, the T90 is LG’s first ever true wireless earbuds to feature Dolby Head Tracking. This particular feature is basically spatial audio technology that is similar to those offered by Apple and other audio brands, where the point of origin of certain sounds will move accordingly when the user moves their head – allowing for a more immersive experience when listening to music, watching movies or playing games. Of course, this would only work properly when used with compatible devices, platforms and so on.
Besides that, the TONE Free T90 earbuds feature active noise cancelling (ANC) capabilities that is further enhanced by the onboard Double Step ANC Algorithm and Real Time ANC Optimiser. LG says the former leverages on a new filter with higher sampling rate to cancel out external noises more effectively, while the latter automatically adjusts ANC performance by analysing the actual position of the buds inside the user’s ear via the inner microphones.
In terms of battery performance, the brand claims that the T90 is capable of lasting up to 9 hours on a single charge, with an additional 20 hours via the included charging case. The latter also features a new quick charge feature which can fully charge both earbuds in about an hour.
Newly introduced on this model are medical-grade hypoallergenic ear gels to reduce the risk of skin irritation in the ear canal. Additionally, the T90 is rated IPX4 in terms of water resistance.
Next up is the sports-oriented TF7 and TF8 TONE Free Fit earbuds. These models are lightweight, feature the same medical-grade, hypoallergenic ear gels as the T90, and incorporate the new LG SwivelGrip technology that helps keep the earbud firmly and comfortably in place. Both also come with ANC capabilities, Meridian HSP spatial sound technology, 10 hours of battery life (up to 30 hours via their included charging case), and are rated IP67 in terms sof water and dust resistance.
The new LG TONE Free T90 and both TONE Free Fit earbuds are slated to be rolled out in major markets worldwide from the end of August. The company has yet to confirm the pricing for all three models.
