Express Rail Link (ERL) Sdn Bhd has announced that it will be increasing the train frequency for both its KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit train services. The company says that the change is set to be implemented starting 1 August 2022.
In a statement released earlier today, ERL again notes that both KLIA train lines will continue to be operated as a combined service – an implementation the company had decided upon since the reinstatement of KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit in September of last year, amidst the movement restriction order that was still in place. The company is hoping to resume full operations for both lines during the fourth quarter of this year, with service frequency and operation hours reverting back to their pre-pandemic practices.

For the upcoming month, the company promises that train frequencies will be improved in order to accommodate the growing number of passengers to and from both KLIA terminals, thanks to Malaysia’s transition into the endemic phase. “The revised schedule will see the combined service frequency improving from every 15 minutes to every 10 minutes during weekday peak hours (six services running every hour),” it said in the statement. “Off-peak frequency will be increased from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes (three services every hour).
To summarise, trains are expected to arrive every 10 minutes during the 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 7 pm peak hours during weekdays. Meanwhile, for regular hours and weekends, frequencies are expected at every 20 minutes.
On top of that, ERL adds that the first train will depart at 5 am from KL Sentral every day, while the last train will depart at 12:02am from both KLIA terminals. In regards to fares, the company confirms that there will be no changes made to the combined services fees to and from KL Sentral or either KLIA terminals.
