OPPO Malaysia has confirmed that its latest tablet, the OPPO Pad Air, will debut in Malaysia alongside the new Reno8 series, which is slated to happen sometime this month. While the slate was actually introduced as the brand’s second tablet-based product in May, it is the only model that is set to officially launch locally.
To recap, the OPPO Pad Air sports a 10.36-inch IPS LCD display with 2K resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort certification. Also onboard is a quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos enhancements, Android 12 via ColorOS 12, a USB-C port, and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. There’s no cellular support, meaning that the tablet only comes with Wi-Fi connectivity.
Internally, the tablet is equipped with a mid-range Snapdragon 680 chipset, along with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage with up to 1TB expandable storage support via microSD. However, keep in mind that the specs mentioned are from the Chinese release and that the tablet may be offered in different configurations in Malaysia. Powering the Pad Air is a 7,100mAh battery with 18W wired fast charging support.
On the imaging side of things, on the back of the slate is a lone 8MP primary camera, while situated on the side bezel of its display is a 5MP selfie camera. Other than that, the device also comes with external accessory support for the brand’s own Pencil stylus and proprietary keyboard cover.
For your reference, the OPPO Pad Air is offered at CNY 1,299 (~RM 855) for the 4GB + 64GB trim, and CNY 1,699 (~RM 1,119) for the 6GB + 128GB configuration. As for colour selection, the tablet is offered in either Star Silver or Fog Grey.
Meanwhile, the new OPPO Reno8 series is offered in three different variants: a standard model, a Pro variant, and the high-end Pro+. Though configured differently, the trio do feature some similarities, including the first-party MariSilicon NPU, a maximum memory configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, under-display fingerprint sensors, Android 12 via ColorOS 12.1, a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging, as well as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC connectivity. As with the Pad Air, there is a chance that OPPO may offer the local version of the Reno8 series with different specs.
First off, the standard OPPO Reno8 is equipped with a flat 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a 32MP selfie camera housed within a punch-hole cutout. Under its hood is a MediaTek 1300 chipset, while on its back is a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary, 2MP monochrome and a 2MP macro sensor.
Then we have the OPPO Reno8 Pro, which features a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, a higher 120Hz refresh rate, and the same 32MP front-facing camera as its siblings. Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, while featured on its back is a triple camera setup consisting of 50MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro.
Lastly, the OPPO Reno8 Pro+ sports a larger 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 32MP selfie camera. Under its hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 MAX SoC, while situated on its back is the same 50MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro camera setup as the regular Pro variant.
In China, the standard Reno8 starts from CNY 2,499 (~RM 1,647), while the Pro starts from CNY 2,999 (~RM 1,976). The top-of-the-line Pro+ variant, on the other hand, starts from CNY 3,699 (~RM 2,437).
OPPO Malaysia has yet to confirm the local pricing and availability of the Pad Air and the Reno8 series.
