Last month, Bloomberg reported that God of War Ragnarok will have its initial release date pushed back from 30 September to some time in November. Sony Interactive Entertainment has since confirmed this delay with the announcement of the game’s actual release date, as well as a showcase of its special editions.
To start, God of War Ragnarok has both a Collector’s Edition and a Jotnar Edition, the latter being the fancier one packed with more extras. Both will come in a box that is made to look like the Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine. The Collector’s Edition will come with two-inch Vanir Twins carvings, and a wooden Dwarven dice set which can see some interesting use if you’re into tabletop games. The highlight here is a 16-inch Mjolnir replica, which looks a little too fancy for it to be swung around. There’s also a steelbook display case, but the game itself will come in the form of a digital code, which makes the case a bit redundant.
The Jotnar edition of God of War Ragnarok will come with all the above, plus a Draupnir ring replica, a seven-inch vinyl with music from Bear McCreary who wrote the soundtrack for the game, and a cloth map showing the Nine Realms of Yggdrasil. Also thrown in is a Falcon, Bear and Wolf pin set. The dice set has gotten a metallic finish, now called Brok’s dice set.
With all that out of the way, God of War Ragnarok will be released on 9 November 2022. The standard edition of the game on PS4 is priced at RM249, while the PS5 version will cost RM299. If you got the former first and want to upgrade to the latter, you’ll have to pay the same RM50 difference. The Digital Deluxe Edition, which comes with both PS4 and PS5 versions of the game plus in-game extras, will come with a RM339 price tag.
Then comes the Collector’s Edition, which will come with the code for the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, and the physical merchandise mentioned above. All this will come at a price of RM839. And finally, the Jotnar Edition, which also comes with the Digital Deluxe code, will have an asking price of RM1099. Pre-orders for the game open next week on 15 July. If you want the Collector’s or Jotnar Editions though, you can only place your pre-orders for them at select retail stores.
