Xiaomi has launched its latest wearable, the Smart Band 7 Pro, alongside the China-exclusive 12S Ultra. The 7 Pro is, of course, a follow-up to the Smart Band 7 released earlier this year, and aside from some cosmetic changes, the higher-end variant also adds some much-needed features.
The Smart Band 7 Pro is equipped with a 1.64-inch AMOLED display, which is significantly larger when compared to the 1.47-inch display on the Redmi Smart Band Pro. And while it is only nominally bigger than the standard model on paper, the Pro variant has a wider form factor that makes it look more like a smartwatch than a band.
The display has always-on functionality thanks to the AMOLED panel and there is also an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness based on the lighting conditions. There are no physical buttons to speak of and the frame comes in gold and silver colour options. Of course, users can personalise the device using the several different-coloured silicon and leather bands being offered, as well as the over 180 watch faces that users can choose from.
When it comes to fitness, the wearable device is capable of tracking a whopping 117 different types of sports and workouts, covering both indoor and outdoor activities. And unlike the standard Smart Band 7, the Pro features built-in GPS functions so you can track your routes without needing to connect to a phone. It is also rated for 5ATM water resistance so you can take it for a swim with no worries as long as you don’t exceed the 50 meters depth limit.
The device comes with all the standard health tracking features such as all-day blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and menstrual cycle tracking. As for the battery life, Xiaomi claims that it can last between six to 12 days on a single charge depending on the usage and it only needs five minutes of charging for eight hours of sleep tracking.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro is being sold in China for RMB399 (~RM263), which is almost RM100 more than the local price of the base Smart Band 7. The company has not yet announced pricing or availability for other markets.
