Huawei Malaysia yesterday has announced that the WiFi version of its 2022 MatePad tablet is now available for purchase in Malaysia. The device comes with the same specifications and accessory compatibility as its sibling, save for the obvious lack of LTE support – entailing for a more affordable price tag.
To recap, this year’s Huawei MatePad sports a TUV Rheinland dual certified 10.4-inch IPS display with 2K (2000 x 1200 pixel) resolution, 16.7m colour output, and 470 nit brightness. Also onboard are three microphones, four stereo speakers with Huawei Histen and Harman Kardon audio enhancements, a USB-C port, and compatibility with the company’s Smart Keyboard and M-Pencil accessories. The tablet itself measures at 154.96 x 245.2 x 7.35 mm, weighs in at approximately 450g, and is offered in a single Matte Grey colourway.
As for internals, the device is equipped with a Kirin 710A chipset, which is somewhat a downgrade when compared to the more powerful Kirin 820 SoC featured on its predecessor. Nevertheless, paired together with it is 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with expandable storage support of up to 512GB via microSD card. Besides that, the 2022 MatePad comes with HarmonyOS 2 out of the box, multi-screen collaboration support, WiFi and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, and a 7,250mAh battery.
Imaging-wise, on its back is a lone 13MP f/1.8 primary sensor that is capable of capturing photos of up to 4160 x 3120 pixels, as well as 1080p videos. Meanwhile, housed within the tablet’s side bezel is an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera for selfies and video conferencing.
The MatePad 2022 WiFi version is available now for RM1,299 via the official Huawei Malaysia website and all experience stores nationwide. It’s also worth noting those purchasing the tablet are also entitled to receive a free Huawei Smart Keyboard accessory worth RM399 while stocks last. And for your reference, the 4G LTE version is currently priced at RM 1,599, which also comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.
