If you like listening to music, you probably have the Spotify app installed on your phone. And if you’re using an Android device, you may have had the misfortune of having the app getting stuck on the splash screen and not loading further. If this has happened to you, then for what it’s worth, you’re not alone.
As first reported by PiunikaWeb, a number of Spotify users using Android devices have had their app lading the splash screen, but no further. The usual troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the app, clearing cache and restarting the phone itself have failed to resolve the issue. For some, this has even prevented them from running the service via the Chrome browser.
From the thread, it looks like the problem occurs after logging out of your Spotify account and logging back in. We’ve not have this happen to us just yet, but for now it’s probably best to avoid doing anything that will get you logged out of your account.
If you’ve not have this happen to you on your Spotify app, the good news is that it doesn’t look to be a widespread issue, at least not yet. Going through the thread, it does look like the vast majority of victims are using Samsung devices. But that’s not to say that it’s the only brand that’s affected, as there are the odd Pixel, Xiaomi and Vivo users in the thread as well voicing that have been affected.
For what it’s worth, Spotify says that it is currently investigating the issue. But considering that the company last said this on Thursday, we can only hope that a fix is found sooner rather than later. But this serves as a reminder that streaming is not exactly the future of music, and that buying albums, either physically or digitally, is still an essential fallback.
