German luxury brand Montblanc will soon add its latest high-end smartwatch, the Montblanc Summit 3, to its Summit collection. The brand’s latest luxury smartwatch will run Wear OS 3, Google’s latest and long-delayed OS for the accessory. Additionally, the wearable is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset.
News of the Summit 3’s availability is big news for the wearable seen, in part due to the fact that it is the latest smartwatch to be powered by Wear OS 3. Prior to this, the OS was exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 that launched last year, along with the pricier Watch4 Classic. On a side note, Google also confirmed that Wear OS 3 will also be coming to smartwatches from the Fossil Group, including the Fossil Gen 6.
Getting back to the Summit 3, Google is providing improved in-house apps, including YouTube Music, Maps, Assistant, and Play, among other apps, with higher degrees of customisation, prolonged battery life, and faster UI response on the Summit 3.
Adding on to that, The Wear OS 3 version of the Summit 3 will have Google Pay for in-person purchases and a version of the Google Play Store to download apps, although it is unclear if that service will be available in Malaysia. On another note, the Wear OS 3 also offers a fitness app with sleep tracking and step-tracking, heartrate monitoring, and is even capable of reading its user’s blood oxygen levels.
As per the official product page, the Summit 3 has a 1.28-inch full-circle AMOLED display (416 x 416) with sapphire glass, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC payment, and Wi-Fi connectivity. It also comes with a microphone, barometer, accelerator, gyroscope, ambient light, and heartrate monitor (HRM), as mentioned earlier.
For options, the Summit 3 is available in three colours so far; Black Titanium, Titanium Grey, and Bicolor Titanium. Moreover, the smartwatch will also be available with both rubber straps and leather options too. Moreover, the watch consists of a rotating crown with two integrated knobs, one of which is programmable, while the other opens up the launcher. On that note, the product is also 42mm case made from stainless steel.
Price-wise, the Summit 3 is currently up for reservation for RM5700 and will begin shipping out from 15 July onwards.
