The name Texas Chainsaw Massacre should not be an unfamiliar one, even if you are not a fan of the horror genre. Even the character Leatherface, inspired by a real life killer, has had a number of guest appearances in other games, including one appearance in the Mortal Kombat series. There’s a new game that adopts the name of the films coming out sometime in 2023. with a new trailer to set the tone.
From the trailer, it looks like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game will play in a similar fashion to games like Dead by Daylight. In other words, a number of players will play as survivors and have to, well, survive. Stalking and hunting them are the villains of pop culture, and in this game’s case, Leatherface himself.
That being said, it looks like there’s more than just one psychopath on the loose in this iteration of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The trailer shows at least one more, who not only doesn’t wield a chainsaw, but speaks a lot more than Leatherface, who generally only grunts and screams. This sort of follows the plot of the movies, where the titular character’s own family are varying degrees of crazy. The devs have even confirmed in the game’s official subreddit that one of them is The Cook.
This game is not Friday the 13th. It's a 3v4, asymmetrical-multiplayer experience. 3 Family vs 4 Victims.

And if the survivors have their own effective ways of fighting back, this makes some degree of sense. After all, Leatherface is ultimately just a cannibalistic human, not some undead superhuman monster. According to the devs, there are two other psychos alongside Leatherface, hunting down four survivors.
As mentioned, this Texas Chainsaw Massacre game only has a vague release date of 2023. That being said, it will be available on both generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC via Steam. If you are a Game Pass subscriber, this will also be available on the subscription service.
