Earlier during CES 2022 this year, Samsung announced a slew of desktop monitors, one of which happen to be the Odyssey Neo G8 gaming monitor. As of today, the Neo G8 is now globally available.
Officially known by its model code G85NB, the Neo G8 is a 32-inch gaming display with a maximum resolution of 4K (3840 x 2160) and a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz with 1ms GTG response time. Like its ultra-wide and unwieldy bigger brother, the Neo G9, the Neo 8’s panel is also curved with a curvature of 1000R and viewing angle of 178°.
It doesn’t stop there either. The Neo G8’s display panel also comes equipped with a wide range of other features, including a new technology call Matte Display that provides anti-glare and anti-reflection on the screen, allowing users to focus on their content and not get distracted by…well, reflections in the screen.
Additional specifications of the monitor include Samsung’s Quantum HDR 2000 rating, meaning that the Neo G8 can achieve a peak brightness of 2000 nits, while still retaining a high contrast ratio. Basically, deep blacks and blinding white whenever and wherever applicable. This is possible due to the use of Samsung’s Quantum Mini LED technology, which enables the monitor to have a DCI-P3 colour gamut of 95%. Oh, and it’s also an AMD FreeSync Premium Pro Monitor.
From a design perspective, the aesthetics of the Neo G8 is, again, similar to the Neo G9. It sports a minimalist design, with a Height Adjustable Stand and the ability to swivel and tilt accordingly. On top of that, it’s also a VESA-certified monitor, so if and when you feel like it, you can ditch the provided monitor stand for the appropriate VESA mounting.
More importantly, the rear of the Neo G8 also sports the same CoreSync lighting that automatically detects the colour on the screen at the time, and proceeds to project them, providing a deeper sense of immersion.
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is already available globally and retails for US$1499 (~RM6590). However, at the time of writing, Samsung Malaysia did not specify a local availability and pricing.
