There have been plenty of rumours of Electronic Arts announcing the sequel to its successful Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Previous reports even pegged the publisher as announcing the sequel this year. And it has happened, with a trailer revealing the name of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
EA has put the trailer up on its YouTube channel specifically for Star Wars games. The trailer is a story-centric, though it doesn’t actually reveal much on that aspect. According to the trailer description, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes place five years after the events of Fallen Order.
It does show a gruffer Cal Kestis engaging is some lightsaber combat, a Pau’an narrator who may be the primary antagonist, as well as another unknown individual in a bacta tank. No gameplay in this Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer, though since it’s a sequel it will likely have a mostly similar gameplay to Fallen Order. As in, it will remain a narrative-driven action adventure.
EA has been pretty notorious with its many cancelled Star Wars games, and releasing only a small handful of games from the franchise for the duration of its exclusive license to make such games. And up until Fallen Order, none of them were singleplayer narrative-driven titles. It takes the publisher, with the help of developer Respawn Entertainment, striking gold with Fallen Order that it is even considering more games of this nature.
And thanks to Respawn’s efforts, the studio is being given the green light to make Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Which will be released sometime in 2023, according to its teaser trailer. As usual, it’s likely that EA will reveal more as we approach the game’s release date. But until then, fans of the first game will just have to trust Respawn in delivering a similar experience as fallen order did.
