We first heard of an upcoming Warcraft mobile title coming all the way back in February of this year. A month later, Blizzard Entertainment announced that the game will be revealed in May. And now, we have a specific date of 4 May.
While no major announcement was made since then, Blizzard has set up a webpage for the announcement livestream. The date on it says 3 May with a time of 10AM Pacific, which translates to 1AM of 4 May local time. It doesn’t specifically say that it’s the reveal for its Warcraft mobile game, but the timing lines up.
Blizzard said that in its quarterly earnings report that it was “planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022”. Among them was this upcoming mobile Warcraft title. But since then, the company has not revealed what fans can expect from this game.
The game will probably face backlash of some kind if it remains one that’s exclusive for mobile, if the Diablo Immortal announcement back in 2018 was anything to go by. Blizzard may even silently cook up a PC port for it as the aforementioned Diablo entry got.
At any rate, more information about this mobile Warcraft title will be coming next week. We’ll just have to wait a little bit longer to find out more. Hopefully the announcement includes a release date as well.
