Last year, video games leaker Tom Henderson made the claim that this year’s Call of Duty title will simply be called Modern Warfare II. It is to serve as the sequel to the recent Modern Warfare reboot, and so is not to be confused with the game with the same name released in 2009. Now, Activision has confirmed the name of the game to indeed be what Henderson previously claimed.
The official Call of Duty Twitter account posted a short video that ends with the Modern Warfare II logo being on display. Eagle-eyed viewers have also spotted the Task Force 141 badge, a reference to the special operations unit that’s also from the original Modern Warfare 2.

Though beyond that split second teaser, there’s nothing much else in the short clip that tells us what to expect from the game. Judging from the recent reboot and the way it compared to the original, it’s likely that this sequel will follow a similar plot progression.
Previous rumours regarding this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II included a morality system. Though at this point, its veracity is not known. At any rate, a further announcement should be able to shed more light on the game.
