Digimon fans awaiting the next game in the franchise would be relieved to know that it finally has a release date. Digimon Survive producer Kazumasa Habu announced on the Bandai Namco YouTube channel that the game will be released on 29 July of this year.
Announced all the way back in 2018, Digimon Survive promised a darker story compared to what fans may have come to expect from the series. Where previous games see the protagonists being the one to save the digital world from some sort of crisis, this one is a lot simpler: staying alive. In many ways, the Fire Emblem series serves as the best reference point, with story bits being similar visual novel style and gameplay being a tactical RPG.
It’s also gone through a couple of delays. Digimon Survive first had a release date of 2019, which was then pushed back to 2020, and then 2022. So it’s great that the game is finally getting a solid release date.
Digimon Survive will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. Habu also said that there will be more details by Bandai Namco to share as we get closer to the release of the game.
