WhatsApp seems to be working on a new feature that makes it easier to start chats with numbers that aren’t in your contact list. In fact, the feature allows you to start a chat with a new number straight from another chat, according to the ever-reliable WABetaInfo.
With the current iteration, tapping on a phone number sent through a chat on WhatsApp will lead you straight to the dialer app, so you can call that number or save them to your address book. The change sees a pop-up dialog that checks whether or not the number is associated with a WhatsApp account and gives you the option to start a chat right away.
WABetaInfo noted that this feature is currently rolling out to a select number of Android beta users. Hence, it might take some time before we see it being rolled out to all users but we don’t think the wait is going to be long though.
WhatsApp has made some major improvements as of late, with the addition of new tools for voice messaging. The platform is also testing out a new 2GB file sharing size limit, group polls, and unfortunately, backups could soon no longer be exempt from your Google Drive storage quota.
