Apple recently launched its latest desktop computer, the Mac Studio, with a hefty price tag and no local release date for our market. However, some have taken notice that the small machine is actually manufactured in Malaysia.
In YouTuber iJustine’s review of the Mac Studio, we can see clearly at the base of the computer’s underside that it says “Designed By Apple in California, Made in Malaysia”. The same writing can be seen on MKBHD’s picture of his unit, as well as the ones from The Verge, Engadget, CNET, Wired, CNBC, and TechCrunch.

We previously found out that some Mac mini M1 units were made in Malaysia while some came from China. That seems to be the same case with the Mac Studio, as a few units can be seen carrying the “Assembled in China” mark. One of which is a unit that a French customer managed to get their hands on before the machine even started shipping out, while TechRadar also has a China-made unit.
While it’s odd that we don’t know when it will come out in Malaysia despite the computer being made here, we know it is coming eventually. The Mac Studio can be equipped with either last year’s M1 Max or the latest M1 Ultra Apple Silicon chip. It starts at RM8,799 and tops out at RM32,799 for the highest configuration.
