Gotham Knights was first revealed at DC Fandome back in 2020, showcasing a game that featured Batman’s extended family rather than the dark knight himself. It now has a release date, which is close to the end of the year.
As a quick refresher, Gotham Knights is being developed by WB Montreal, the studio behind Arkham Origins. The game’s plot begins with the premise that the Batman is dead, indicating that it takes place sometime after the events of Arkham Knight. But whether this is an official sequel or an alternate timeline spinoff is not yet made clear. Either way, you’ll play as either Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin or Red Hood in carrying on Batman’s legacy.

While there are more RPG elements in the game as well, it looks like for the most part the Gotham Knights will play somewhat like the Arkham series did. Introduced here are character levels and damage numbers, as well as increased emphasis on combat gadgets.
As announced on Twitter by the game’s official account, the game will be out on 25 October 2022. Though not mentioned in the tweet itself, the game will be released on PC as well as both generations of the two major console platforms.
