Apple has announced the iPad Air 5 during its launch event earlier today. It is a major upgrade to its previous iteration too, now sporting the M1 chip found in the iPad Pro. The company has since announced the local prices of the four available configurations.
To quickly summarise, the iPad Air 5 sports the same design as its previous generation. This means the familiar 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, stereo speakers while in landscape mode, and Touch ID integrated into the power button.
But with the upgrade to the M1 chip, it gains a number of key features, the main one being Centre Stage for the 12MP front-facing camera. The other, if you opt for the model that supports both WiFi and mobile data, is 5G connectivity.
For its local pricing, Apple says that the base model, which is WiFi only and with 64GB of storage, is priced at RM2699. Going for 256GB of storage pushes this up to RM3349. The model that supports mobile data, on the other hand, starts at RM3349 for the 64GB model. The 256GB model with mobile data support, this goes up to RM3999. Unfortunately no availability dates just yet, but we’ll likely hear from the company in a couple of weeks.
