Apple’s newly launched miniature desktop computer, the Mac Studio, is slated to be shipped soon in certain markets. Interestingly, the local Malaysian pricing has also been updated on Apple’s website, revealing an eye-watering price tag when configured with the highest specifications.
The Mac Studio with the M1 Max starts at RM8,799 with a 10-core CPU, a 24-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine, with an option to upgrade to a 32-core GPU for an additional RM800. The base model has 32GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD but can be maxed out to 64GB and 8TB respectively, carrying a price tag of RM20,799 for the highest M1 Max configuration.
As for the M1 Ultra model, it starts at a whopping RM16,799 for a 20-core CPU, 48-core GPU, and 32-core Neural Engine. If that’s not enough for you, there is a variant with a 64-core GPU for an extra RM4,000. The storage also goes up to 8TB and the memory can be configured up to 128GB. All-in-all, a completely maxed out M1 Ultra Mac Studio costs RM32,799.
On the rear, you’ll find four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10 Gb Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, as well as an audio jack. The front part of the chassis contains an SDXC card slot and two USB-C ports — USB 3.0 for M1 Max models and Thunderbolt 4 for M1 Ultra systems.
While Apple will start shipping the Mac Studio in some markets on 18 March, the company’s Malaysian website only tells customers to “check back later”, with no specific date given yet for local availability. Stay tuned, as we will keep you updated with any new announcements.
