Lenovo has officially launched the Y700 in China, the first ever tablet released under its gaming oriented Legion sub-brand. Prior to this, the company had already released a number of teasers earlier in January via its official account on Weibo, which provided glimpses of the device’s design and some of its specifications.
From the launch, we now know that the new Lenovo Legion Y700 sports an 8.8-inch flat LCD panel with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 240 Hz touch sampling rate, 500 nits max brightness, and HDR10 support. While its display outputs at 16:10 aspect ratio by default, there is a built-in feature that bumps it up to 21:9. Of course, activating this mode will fill the top and bottom of the screen with black bars, but doing so will enable for more horizontal screen space for certain games such as Mobile Legends and so on.
Also onboard are JBL-tuned stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, Android 12 via ZUI 13, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Besides that, the tablet measures at 207.1 x 128.1 x 7.9mm, and weighs at around 375 grams.
Powering the Legion Y700 is a somewhat dated but still powerful Snapdragon 870 chipset, which is paired together with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. Battery-wise, it features a capacity of 6,550mAh and comes with 45W fast charging support via USB-C. Lastly, the tablet is also equipped with a 13MP primary camera on its back, and an 8MP selfie camera that is housed in its display’s upper bezel.
The new Lenovo Legion Y700 is slated to go on sale in China starting 10 March, where it will retail at CNY 2,199 (~RM 1,461) for the 8GB + 128GB configuration and CNY 2,499 (~RM 1,661) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The company has not revealed any plans to release the tablet in other regions at this time.
