Steam will have its rules on discounts changed next month, which will hopefully spell the end for fake discounts. But before that goes into effect, Valve has one more sale scheduled. And it’s centred around JRPGs.
As spotted by PC Gamer, Valve has put up the announcement via the Steamworks Development events page. Officially called the Steam JRPG Sale, it is open to “games built around the JRPG style and mechanics of gameplay”. Which means that as long as it’s a close enough recipe, it doesn’t even have to be an actual JRPG to be a part of this sale.
Another thing that’s not necessary to be a part of this sale is a discount, apparently. Valve says that “a discount is not required to participate in the Steam JRPG sale”. Which doesn’t sound like much of a sale if there’s no discount. But the company says that it will be prioritising visibility for games that do have discounts.
This Steam JRPG Sale lasts for a week, from 14 to 21 March. But because it comes before the new discount rules apply, there’s a chance that you’ll still see discounts less than 10% or more than 90%. That being said, it’s probably unlikely that grifters and asset flippers are making full-fledged JRPGs.
