ShopeeFood, the relatively new food delivery platform from e-commerce giant Shopee, has now expanded its service to Johor Bahru. Those who live in the city can now order food straight from the Shopee app starting today.
Until now, the service was only available in Klang Valley but the company seems to be making its move in other parts of the country, albeit a small part as it’s still not available for the rest of Johor. The expansion comes with free delivery for Johor Bahru residents, capped at RM3 off, as well as other discount vouchers.
According to Momentum Works, ShopeeFood has now become the third-largest food delivery platform in Malaysia despite only launching last September. That being said, it only made up 3% of the US$1.6 billion (~RM6.7 billion) market while Grab and FoodPanda remained dominant with 48% and 49% respectively.
Besides its local presence in Malaysia, ShopeeFood is also available in Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. As of now, other companies have also dipped their toes in the food delivery segment with their own platforms, including AirAsia, retailer Senheng, and e-wallet Boost.
