True to what was promised back in October of last year, Microsoft has announced that the Surface Pro 8 tablet is available in Malaysia starting today on 15 February. At the same time, the company also revealed that its flagship convertible notebook, the Surface Laptop Studio, is slated to arrive locally in early March this year.
To recap, the Surface Pro 8 is equipped with a 13-inch PixelSense touchscreen with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120Hz, as well as Dolby Vision and Adaptive Color Technology. It utilises 11th Gen Intel Core processors built on the Intel Evo platform, with RAM of up to 16GB and internal storage capacity of up to 512GB via SSD. Microsoft claims that the device is capable of lasting up to 16 hours on a single charge.
It also comes with a 5MP front-facing camera, a 10MP rear camera, Dolby Atmos-enhanced speakers, dual far-field Studio Mics, and two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports. Additionally, the new Microsoft tablet fully supports Microsoft’s Signature Keyboard attachment and the Slim Pen 2 accessory, which are sold separately.
Next up is the Surface Laptop Studio, which has been dubbed by the company as the most powerful Surface device ever built. Featured on this model is a 14.4-inch PixelSense Flow touch display, with a native resolution of 2400 x 1600 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. Being a convertible, the device can be used in three different modes, which utilises its Dynamic Woven Hinge.
Also onboard are Quad Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Atmos support, an integrated Surface Slim Pen 2 that is stored underneath the keyboard, and two USB 4.0 with Thunderbolt 4 ports. Powering the laptop is a 58WHr battery, enabling it to last up to a claimed 19 hours of usage.
Meanwhile, under its hood is up to an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, and a choice of either Intel Iris Xe Graphics or an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. Memory-wise, the Surface Laptop Studio comes with up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage via SSD.
As mentioned earlier, the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is offered at a starting price of RM 4,950, and is available now through Maxis and authorised retailers such as All IT, Gloo, Harvey Norman, Lazada, PC Image, Senheng, Shopee, and TMT by Thundermatch. Meanwhile, the flagship Surface Laptop Studio is slated to arrive locally on 8 March 2022. Pre-orders for the device are now open, with prices starting from RM 7,399.
It is also worth noting that the Surface Pro 8 with Intel Evo Core i5 / 16GB / 256GB configuration and the Surface Laptop Studio with Intel Core i5 / 32GB / 1TB are exclusive to Harvey Norman stores. Both of which are priced at RM 6,490 and RM 11,999 respectively.
