Launched in June last year, Astro’s freemium service sooka is accessible through dedicated Android and iOS apps as well as web browsers. Prior to the launch, the company has already confirmed its commitment to deliver the service directly to Android TV but it was only recently that Astro has managed to fulfil that promise.
However, there are a number of caveats though. For starters, the app is only available for Sony and Sharp Android TVs at the moment according to sooka’s FAQ document right here.
Additionally, you also need to sign up for the service’s VIP TV plan in order to watch sooka through your Android TV. Else, you would have just been stucked at the activation screen that is shown above.
Priced at RM84.90 per month, the VIP TV is currently the most expensive sooka plan to date. In addition to having the ability to watch all the contents from sooka on their Android TV, those who signed up for the plan are also able to stream the service on two devices simultaneously.
As a comparison, the older VIP + Sports plan was priced at RM41.90 per month while the VIP Entertainment monthly plan goes for RM15.90. Regardless of the plan, you can cancel your sooka’s subscription at any given time.
