UPDATE (10 FEB / 12:30 AM): Now that the phone is available for pre-order in Malaysia, it turns out that the official pricing is slightly different. Check out our report here for more details.
ORIGINAL STORY (8 FEB / 10:23 AM):
Just two days before the first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2022 takes place, an authorised reseller at Lazada has revealed the pricing for the much rumoured (or leaked) Galaxy S22 Ultra. While the accuracy of this listing is not known at the moment, the information that was contained within it is still quite juicy.
However, the listing has since been removed but the good folks at Amanz have managed to grab some screenshots before it was gone. The highest-end variant apparently carries 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage together with a price tag of RM6,399.
As for the other memory and storage configurations, below is their cost:
16GB RAM / 512GB storage: RM5,899
12GB RAM / 256GB storage: RM5,299
12GB RAM / 128GB storage: RM4,999
When you generally compare the new model with last year’s Galaxy S21 Ultra, they actually have the same launch price although Samsung has provided two more memory and storage configurations for Galaxy S22 Ultra. This means that the new model generally has a lower starting price than its predecessor but at the same time, the move has also increased its ceiling price level as well.
Meanwhile, the listing has also claimed that the Malaysian unit of Galaxy S22 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor instead of Samsung’s own Exynos chip. This should be exciting news to those who have been criticising Samsung for not releasing enough Snapdragon-based flagship phones in our market.
That being said, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. After all, the final confirmation regarding its pricing and release date can only be provided by Samsung which we expect to be revealed not long after the Unpacked event tomorrow night, if not immediately. So, stay tuned.
