It is still months away until we get to see the highly anticipated space-themed RPG, Starfield. While little is known about the game at this time, it is certain that Bethesda will release it in a Collector’s Edition. Now, thanks to a recent leak, details of the bundle’s limited edition Starfield smartwatch have made its way online.
Shared by user SquiddyVonn on Reddit are several images and a draft user manual for the device. It is also revealed that the watch, known as the LPV6 Chronomark, is produced by The Wand Company, which is known for manufacturing other functional replicas such as the Bluetooth-enabled communicator from the original Star Trek TV series and a high-quality Pokeball replica from Pokemon. It is also worth noting that the limited edition Starfield-themed smartwatch will be the first ever fully functional smart wearable developed by the company.
Although the device is officially classified as a smartwatch, the leaked user manual reveals it to feature mostly basic functionalities when compared to the various watches that are available in the market. According to the document, it will be able to receive weather forecast information from a paired mobile device, display notifications, track the number of steps you’ve taken, and also offer several different watch faces for you to choose from. If you’re hoping for features such as health tracking or other advanced functions, then you’ll probably be left disappointed.
Design-wise, the limited edition LPV6 Chronomark smartwatch is shown to sport a rugged body, although it is hard to determine whether it will actually be durable – let alone feature any resistance against the elements. Aside from that, the leaked images reveal it to feature an LCD display, but specific details such as touchscreen capability, resolution, and maximum brightness are unknown at this time.
This is actually not the first time the watch was shown to the public, as it was also teased in a Starfield behind-the-scenes video from Bethesda that was uploaded in June 2021. According to the video, the device will be packed in a rugged-looking case which also shares its white and tan colour scheme.
Being part of the Collector’s Edition, it is expected that the LPV6 Chronomark replica, along with the game and other other goodies included will likely cost gamers a pretty penny. For reference, Bethesda’s highly controversial Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76 currently retails at US$200 (~RM836). Starfield is slated to launch on 11 November 2021 for PC and Xbox Series consoles.
