The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) has collaborated with the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) to create the MyPrice Dashboard which lets the public monitor price changes of selected essential goods around the country.
The dashboard will initially cover 36 essential goods that are being spread into four categories: chicken, beef, and eggs; fish and seafood; vegetables, and fruits. These items were selected based on the most consumed and preferred items by most households in Malaysia with 12 of them also covered by the Keluarga Malaysia Maximum Price Scheme.
The information displayed through MyPrice Dashboard is currently based on the data that are collected between 9:00 to 11:00 AM every day and users can also browse for previously recorded information that is as old as 7 December 2021. There are 137 outlets being featured in the dashboard so far including selected wet markets, Tesco, and MyGrocer.
Meanwhile, the Chief Statistician of Malaysia, Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin has said that the recent floods did not have a major impact on the price of goods so far. Still, the MyPrice Dashboard which you can check out right here was set up so that consumers could be more informed should there be any changes to these essential items.
