Earlier last month, MediaTek officially announced the Dimensity 9000 5G SoC, its latest flagship chipset designed and aimed at next-generation flagship smartphones. As of today, the chipset has officially launched and is set to be available in 2022.
To quickly recap on the Dimensity 9000’s specifications, the chipset is based on TSMC’s N4 process and integrates the Armv9 CPU architecture. An eight-core CPU architecture that, by the way, is comprised of one ultra Cortex-X2 core running at 3.05GHz, three performance A710 cores running at 2.85GHz, and four efficiency Cortex-A510 cores. Additionally, the chipset support LPDDR5X with speeds of up to 7500Mbps, plus an 8MB L3 cache and 6MB system cache.
Other key features of the Dimensity 9000 includes MediaTek’s Imagiq 790 18-bit HDR-ISP that supports sensor sizes as large as 320MP, as well as 4K HDR video and AI noise reduction support; a 3GPP Release-16 5G modem with sub-6GHz downlink speed of up to 7Gbps; MiraVision 790, which allows the chipset to support smartphone displays with refresh rates as high as 144Hz on WQHD+ panels or 180HZ on Full HD+ panels; and Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
MediaTek says that its Dimensity 9000 5G chipset should be available on flagship devices sometime within the first quarter of 2022. As for who it is partnering up with, OPPO says that its next Find X flagship will launch with the chipset, while Xiaomi has named its next Redmi flagship as the recipient of the processor.
