Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) today has officially launched the first batch of live 5G sites in Malaysia which are located within Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Cyberjaya. At the moment, only Yes customers on selected prepaid and postpaid plans are able to utilise the 5G network while unifi Mobile postpaid customers will also be able to access it soon although we are still waiting for further clarifications from TM.
If you’re wondering where exactly these 5G sites are located, you can now refer to the 5G coverage map that DNB has put up on its website. We were informed that there are already close to 300 5G sites already live at the moment while DNB is currently on track to meet its 500 sites target in a few weeks’ time.
The map which utilises data from Ookla seemed to be quite detailed as it even noted areas that do not have indoor coverage. We also noticed that DNB 5G network currently reaches certain areas outside of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Cyberjaya including Petaling Jaya, Bandar Utama, Kota Damansara, Kepong, Dengkil, Gombak, Selayang, and many more.
At the same time, the map also includes locations that are currently in the midst of deployment. That being said, it is not known at the moment how often DNB updates this coverage map though.
