Back in June, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the Cosmic Red and Midnight Black colour variants for the DualSense PS5 controllers. Fast forward to November, and we see the company being granted its PS5 faceplate patent. Now it’s all coming together, as the company announces new faceplates for those who don’t like the default white.
According to the announcement blog post, there will be a total of five new colour variants for the PS5 faceplates, or console covers as the company calls them. In addition to the red and black that currently exists for the DualSense, the three additional colours are Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple. Each is priced at RM259, which is quite a substantial amount.
The DualSense PS5 controllers are also getting the three new colours to match. But all three new colours are priced at RM369 – the same as the Cosmic Red colourway – which is a RM20 premium over the default white and Midnight Black colours.
SIE says that the new DualSense controllers will be available starting from 14 January 2022. As for the PS5 faceplates, the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red plates will be made available first on 21 January 2022. The other three will be coming later, but within the first half of next year.
