Disney has plans to make its own “Hey Disney” voice assistant, derived from Amazon’s Alexa, available in hotel rooms of Walt Disney World in 2022. The company has announced that the feature will be expanded to its other US location, Disneyland Resort, next year as well. It will be accessible via the Amazon Echo Show 5 speakers placed in hotel rooms in the resort.
Alongside the voice assistant, Disney will also be making the MagicBand Plus available in Disneyland Resort. As you’d expect from a theme park smartband, this will be the thing that is used to gain access to the park, as well as make payments inside as a cashless alternative.
Expanding the availability of these could be a measure that Disney is taking in reducing physical contact. Which might have something to do with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. That or the company just wants to incorporate modern tech into another of its available locations.
Though with all that said, this would just mean that sometime next year, both the “Hey Disney” voice assistant and the MagicBand Plus will only be available in the two locations in the US. Both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort are located there, more specifically in the states of Florida and California, respectively.
