When the phone was revealed alongside Xperia 1 III back in April, Sony stated that the Xperia 5 III would be released in Malaysia sometime in September. However, it was only yesterday that the company had finally kicked off the pre-order program for the phone.
In general, the Xperia 5 III was considered as the smaller variant of Xperia 1 III. This is due to the fact that both phones shared plenty of features including Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, three 12MP Exmor RS cameras with ZEISS lenses, an 8MP selfie camera, 256GB internal storage, and a 4500mAh battery.
The main difference between them is their screen as the Xperia 5 III carries a 6.1-inch Full HD+ display as compared to Xperia 1 III’s 6.5-inch 4K display although both still feature OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate. In addition to that, the Xperia 5 III has a slightly lower amount of RAM at 8GB while the Xperia 1 III has 12GB RAM.
There is no 3D iToF sensor on Xperia 5 III rear camera module as well. Of course, there are some differences in pricing too given that the Xperia 5 III is listed at RM4,599 while its higher-end twin Xperia 1 III went for RM5,799 when it was made available for pre-order in July and still costs the same till today.
To last until 20 December, Sony Malaysia is currently offering free WF-XB700 true wireless earbuds, casing, and screen protector for each Xperia 5 III pre-order customer. To know more, just head-on to Sony Malaysia’s online store right here.
