Announced during Gamescom, the Saints Row reboot would feature a new roster of characters while retaining the same gang name. The game was previously scheduled for launch on 25 February 2022. But the developers at Volition has announced that the game has been pushed back to the second half of the year.
Volition CCO Jim Boone announced in the game’s website that the delay was the studio underestimating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. And probably by extension, the work from home situation. As you’d expect, there’s the usual line of wanting to “do our vision justice” and giving gamers the game that they are “expecting and deserve”.

The studio also took the opportunity to double down on the new crew. Not exactly surprising, since die hard fans of the original were clamoring for old crew to make a return. But it looks like that’s not happening.
At any rate, the Saints Row reboot now has a new release date of 23 August 2022. Hopefully this delay ensures that the game comes out perfect. The last thing Volition needs right now is its own version of Cyberpunk 2077 or the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remaster on its hands.
