Acer is officially launching its green-focused laptop in Malaysia, called the Aspire Vero. With the tagline of “Make your green mark”, the chassis of the eco-friendly computer is made from 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, while the keycaps are composed of 50% PCR.
The Acer Aspire Vero is touted as easily upgradeable and repairable, as the bottom can be easily opened with standard screwdrivers. Acer says that users can upgrade the RAM and storage themselves and it won’t void the warranty if done correctly, but encourages users to instead bring it to an Acer service centre.
The laptop sports a 15.6-inch 1080p LED display, stereo speakers, a 720p webcam, and a battery that Acer says will last up to 7 hours. The Aspire Vero is powered by 11th generation Intel processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics and is sold in two variants: a Core i5 and Core i7. The i5 model has 8GB of RAM while the i7 model has 16GB of RAM, with both models having 512GB of flash storage.
Doubling down on its theme of recycling, the laptop’s packaging is 100% recyclable and can be folded into a stand. To further remind you to be eco-conscious, the R and E keycaps are even mirrored. The volcano ash-coloured chassis is also apparently paint-free.
The Acer Aspire Vero has Windows 10 pre-installed with Windows 11 upgradability and has Windows Hello enabled using the fingerprint scanner on the touchpad. It has a single USB 3.2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a headphone jack, an ethernet port, and an HDMI 2.0 port. Regarding connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.1 and supports the faster Wi-Fi 6 standard.
As for the pricing, the base Acer Aspire Vero with an i5 will be sold at RM3,399 while the higher-end i7 model will have a price tag of RM4,299. Both models will be available on the Acer Malaysia eStore, the Acer Store on Shopee, and other Acer authorised resellers nationwide on 11 November.
