Back in 2018, Adi Shankar, the producer of the Netflix Castlevania series, announced that he has gotten the rights to work on a Devil May Cry animated series. Now, three years after the initial announcement, we finally get a little bit more in terms of details regarding the show.
To start, the story will be told over multiple seasons, just like Castlevania. That, and the fact that the script for season one is done, and will have eight episodes. No story details, but Shankar confirms that Vergil is in it, as well as Lady.
Shankar also says that he has been working directly with Hiroyuki Kobayashi, a veteran Capcom producer who also worked on the Devil May Cry anime by Madhouse Studio back in 2007. So in terms of plot, it’s likely that it will be something substantial to add to the canon of the series, or a high quality retelling like Castlevania.
The Devil May Cry animated series will go into production in early 2022. And that’s about it. Not much else in terms of information was made available regarding the show, beyond some jabs as not having Chris Pratt voicing anyone in the series. While it’s been a long three years, it looks like the making of the show will only really pick up speed starting next year.
