LG has launched its new QNED MiniLED TVs in Malaysia, namely the 86-inch 8K QNED99 and a 75-inch 4K QNED91. For those wondering, the QNED acronym stands for Quantum NanoCell Emitting Diodes, which is the branding that the company uses for its Mini LED-equipped TVs.
Aside from the differences in screen size and resolution, both of the new TVs are equipped with the company’s Alpha 9 Gen4 AI Processor, Dolby VIsion IQ and Dolby Atmos support, 120Hz refresh rate (at 4K output only), and numerous smart functions. The QNED99 model specifically comes with upscaling capability which uses machine learning technology to bump up lower resolution content to 8K.
Also available on both models are AI Picture Pro and AI Sound Pro features, which automatically optimises picture and audio quality in real-time, based on the scenes and genres that are being played on-screen. LG has also included Filmmaker Mode for those who wish to experience content without motion smoothing while preserving the original aspect ratios, colours and frame rates. Gaming-wise, the TVs come with ALLM (auto low latency mode) and eARC (enhanced audio return channel) that synchronises both graphics and audio to provide a low latency experience especially for fast-paced games.
Smart features on the 8K QNED99 and 4K QNED91 include LG ThinQ AI which responds via voice commands, and also Home Dashboard that allows users to control all of their connected IoT and mobile devices. For sports fans, the Sports Alert feature automatically updates viewers about the latest ongoings of their favourite teams or athletes, start times, and current scores while watching other content.

Included together with either TV model is LG’s Magic Remote which features an improved ergonomic design, as well as upgraded point and scroll system – providing users with quick access to all services. It also comes with Magic Tap, an NFC-based feature where tapping your smartphone on the remote will cast the former’s content onto the latter’s screen while also enabling you to use it to control the TV. LG says you can use this feature to mirror the TV’s content on your mobile device as well.
Both of the new QNED MiniLED TVs are now available in Malaysia via LG authorised retailers nationwide. The 86-inch 8K QNED99 is priced at RM49,999 while the 75-inch QNED91 is retailing at RM19,999.
