The recent Huawei APAC Autumn Product Launch Event has officially introduced three new devices for our market including the nova 9, MateBook 14s, and Watch GT 3 Series. However, only the Matebook is available for pre-order at the moment while the availability of two other devices will be revealed at a later date.
As mentioned in our previous report, the MateBook 14s features an aluminium-alloy chassis which is one of the MateBook’s signature traits. Hence, it might be a little bit hard to notice the difference between the new model and previous MateBook releases but fret not, try to pay attention to the webcam position.
Over the years, Huawei has equipped pop-up webcam into various MateBook models but not for MateBook 14s as its 720p webcam is located on the bezel above the laptop’s display. The MateBook 14s also comes standard with a 14.2-inch 90Hz LTPS touch screen that has a native resolution of 2520 x 1680.
Through the Huawei Share feature, one can utilise selected MatePad tablets as a secondary monitor for the MateBook 14s. Users can also access files and apps that are located on their Huawei phones directly from the laptop.
Other notable feature that Huawei has provided for the 1.43kg laptop includes a backlit keyboard with a 1.5mm key travel & soft-landing design, four built-in speakers & microphones, a 60Whr battery, and a 90W USB-C charger. Price-wise, MateBook 14s with Intel Core i5-11300H, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB solid state drive can be obtained for RM4,999 while the beefier variant that features Intel Core i7-11370H, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD goes for RM6,699.
Readily available for pre-order through Huawei Store Online as well as the brand’s official Lazada and Shopee stores, customers will receive a pre-order freebie pack that includes a Huawei FreeBuds Pro, 1-year subscription for Microsoft Office 365, Huawei Backpack, and Huawei Bluetooth Mouse.
