It has been rumoured that Samsung will be introducing several of its major products in early 2022, with the next generation Galaxy S smartphone series being one of them. Also suggested to launch alongside the phones are the brand’s flagship Galaxy Tab S tablet series – two of which, the standard Tab S8 and the larger Tab S8 Ultra, had recently been leaked online.
Although published by two different websites, both leaks that feature each of the alleged Tab S8 models were sourced from reliable tech industry leakster, Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks). Based on the renders provided by Hemmerstoffer, the next generation Samsung tablets sport a near-identical design to their predecessors. On the back, both models are shown to feature a dual camera setup, as well as antenna lines on the top and bottom of their real panels.
Naturally, the Ultra variant (which is also a first for the Tab S line, by the way) is the larger among the two. The leakster says that the tablet will come in at 325.8 x 207.9 x 5.4mm and features a 14.6-inch display, with separate rumours (via GSMArena) suggesting that the latter will feature an OLED panel, a resolution of 2960 x 1848 pixels, and 120Hz refresh rate. What’s interesting is the inclusion of a 2021 MacBook Pro-like notch on its display, which supposedly houses a single front-facing camera and what appears to some sort of sensor.
The regular Galaxy Tab S8, on the other hand, measures at 253.75 x 165.30 x 6.24mm and comes with a smaller 11-inch display that allegedly features an IPS panel, a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels, and 120Hz refresh rate. Aside from the obvious size difference, the tablet has thicker bezels when compared to the Ultra variant and is also shown to retain its predecessor’s arrangement for its selfie camera.
Specs-wise, the leaks suggest that the Ultra variant would feature a yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon flagship chipset, up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage, and a 12,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy Tab S8 is said to feature a Snapdragon 888, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 8,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging.
As usual, we’ll only find out whether the leaked renders and specifications for the two alleged Galaxy Tab S8 models are accurate or not when Samsung decides to officially unveil them. That being said, insiders are expecting the company to hold a major launch event sometime in January or February of 2022.
