Dell’s premium gaming division, Alienware has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and has revealed a brand-new Aurora gaming desktop to celebrate the occasion. While it still features an obround-shaped front panel just like the existing Aurora R12, the Aurora R13 comes with an all-new chassis that incorporated the brand’s Legend 2.0 design language.
Judging from the official product photos, the new Aurora R13 looked more curvaceous as compared to its predecessor. Alienware has also noted that this is the first time that the division is offering an optional scratch-resistant and EMI-shielded clear side panel for the Aurora series.
It has also designed another optional item for the Aurora R13 in the form of a magnetic cable cover for the rear part of the gaming desktop. This cover provides users with the space to neatly stow their I/O cables as well as conceal the machine’s rear ports.
Aside from the changes on its exterior, some works have been done inside the new Aurora R13 too. Alienware said that it has implemented an “open-air” design inside the machine which have helped increase its internal volume by 50% without significant changes to Aurora R13’s footprint.
On top of all that, the implementation has also enabled more efficient airflow and reduced acoustics. With the ability to support up to 120mm fans and liquid cooling options, Alienware claimed that the Aurora R13 is up to 16% quieter at idle as compared to its predecessor while it is also up to 9%, and 15% less noisy during intensive CPU tasks and overclocking, respectively.
According to the initial information that we have received from Dell Malaysia, the Aurora R13 will be made available in our market at the end of October. While the company has yet to reveal the full specs lists for the machine, we were told that the base model will carry the 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12600KF, 16GB RAM, 512GB solid state drive, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 alongside a price tag of RM8,899.
