Intel’s 12th generation Intel Core i9-12900K has been under the spotlight multiple times since August that, at this point, rumours, leaks, and whispers about the CPU are beginning to reach a tipping point. On that note, the most recent leak appears to be high-resolution images of retail units of the Alder Lake processors.
The images come by way of the Chinese FAQ site, Zhihu, and more specifically, through one of its users, DDAA117. For that matter, the leaked images show both the Alder Lake Core i5-12600K and Core i9-12900K, in what can simply be described as mood lighting. Mind you, the CPUs are actually retail units and you can actually see the CPU product codes, SRL4H for the 12900K and SRL4T for the 12600K.

On another note, prominent leakster 188号 (@momomo_us) also leaked out a screenshot of the 12900K’s official operating frequencies and TDP. Specifically, the top-tier CPU is expected to run at a maximum boost clock of 5GHz, while the average operating frequencies for the CPU’s Performance Cores (P-Cores) are between 3.6GHz and 5GHz, and between 2.7GHz and 3.8GHz for the Efficiency Cores (E-Cores), with the 5GHz mark achieved via Intel’s Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0.
As for its power consumption, the 12900K is expected to pull 125W straight from the wall.

Intel is expected to launch the 12th generation Alder Lake CPU lineup during its Innovation event that is scheduled to begin on 27 October. Unlike previous CPU generations, Alder Lake will be the first lineup in a long while to feature a new CPU design and platform, the LGA1700.
