We have taken a look at the local pricing for the new MacBook Pro (MBP) with M1 Pro chip, so now it is time to check out their M1 Max-based counterparts. As you may recall from our previous report, the M1 Max SoC carries a 10-core CPU just like the M1 Pro but has a more powerful GPU and unified memory configurations of up to 32-cores and 64GB, respectively.
At RM12,399, the base 14-inch MBP with M1 Max chip carries a 24-core GPU, 32GB unified memory 512GB solid state drive, and 96W USB-C power adapter. Once you switch the configurations to 32-core GPU, 64GB unified memory, and 8TB SSD, the price tag shoots to RM24,399.
If you prefer the 16-inch model instead which also comes standard with a 140W USB-C power adapter across the board, the base configuration with 24-core GPU, 32GB memory, and 512GB SSD goes for RM13,199. The maxed-out configuration that includes 32-core GPU, 64GB memory, ad 8TB SSD would set you back a whopping RM25,199.
Just like the M1 Pro version, the exact release date of the M1 Max-based MBPs in Malaysia has yet to be announced by Apple though. It shouldn’t take long for them to arrive here though since the pricing we mentioned above has appeared on Apple Malaysia’s website right after last night’s launch event.
