True to the rumours and predictions, Apple has revealed a new set of MacBook Pro (MBP) laptops that are powered by equally new in-house processors at its Unleashed launch event last night. Available with 14 and 16-inch displays, one such chip is the M1 Pro.
Featuring a 10-core CPU, users can choose to have it with either 14 or 16-core GPU if they intend to get their hands on the new 14-inch MBP. For 16-inch MBP, the M1 Pro chip for this particular model comes standard with a 16-core GPU.
As usual, the exact pricing of the MBP depends on the components that you choose for it. For the M1 Pro-based 14-inch MBP, the base price starts at RM8,799 which also includes a 14-core GPU, 16GB unified memory, 512GB solid state drive, and 67W USB-C power brick. If you want to go all the way, the variant with 16-core GPU, 32GB unified memory, 8TB SSD, and 96W USB-C power adapter carries a price tag of RM21,199.
As for the 16-inch MBP, it starts at RM10,799 which features M1 Pro with 16-core GPU, 16GB unified memory, 512GB SSD, and 140W USB-C power adapter. This particular model peaks out at RM21,999 once you choose 32GB unified memory and 8TB SSD for it.
However, Apple has yet to reveal the exact release date for the new MBP with the M1 Pro chip in Malaysia. We will keep you updated once there are changes in its release status, so stay tuned.
