Cinema SOPs have been updated to now allow fully vaccinated teens to enjoy big-screen movies again in certain states. COVID-19 immunised teens may enter cinemas in Phase 4 states as well as Sarawak, which is currently in Phase 3.
Previously, only those over 18 and fully vaccinated were allowed to visit cinemas, which recently reopened. Both GSC and TGV announced the SOP change during the weekend to allow anyone fully vaccinated to enter the premises, regardless of age. This makes sense seeing as how the government has already started vaccinating those between the ages of 12 and 17 since September.
According to COVIDNOW, 78.2% of adolescents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 shot, while over a quarter have been fully vaccinated in just over a month. As usual, “fully vaccinated” only applies to individuals 14 days after the second dose for two-dose vaccines or 28 days for one-dose jabs.
As of 18 October, locations such as Selangor, KL, Putrajaya, and Melaka have officially shifted to Phase 4 PPN states – joining Labuan, Pahang, and Negeri Sembilan. Other restrictions have also been loosened as part of the country’s move to reopen safely. This includes cyber cafes being allowed to operate in Phase 3 states and above, as well as the reduction of the quarantine period for inoculated overseas travellers from ten days to seven.
