Elden Ring is slated for release on 21 January next year. But as is the case with games, and with increasing frequency recently, gamplay footage from the title has made its way to the internet. It doesn’t show much, but it’s a glimpse into what the game is like.
The 27-second long clip shows a distinctly Dark Souls-esque character – down to the cloth physics – looking around the edge of a cliff. It also shows the ability to jump. And it looks like the regular “press a single button” jump that you find in most RPGs, rather than the “leap from a sprint” jump from the mainline Dark Souls series.

The one embedded above is not of the best quality, for a number of reasons. One is simply due to the weird way Twitter handles videos. Compounding to that is the possibility that this footage was the result of gameplay from a previous generation console, being recorded using an external device.
VGC reports that this clip of Elden Ring gameplay has previously made its way to a number of YouTube channels, but have all been struck down. And while it may be around on Twitter, it’s likely that the many copies of the clip will also gradually be taken down.
