If you want to stream music on your PlayStation while you game, Spotify has always been the major app to use. But it looks like Apple Music may be an additional option that’s coming in the future. At least for the PS5.
A Reddit user posted an image of Apple Music being an app that can be downloaded on their PS5. But when they actually tried downloading, the console delivered the “This app is playable only on PS4” error message. Eurogamer notes that this is the standard error message that PS5 shows when it can’t run something.
Speaking of which, the outlet also tried to get the prompt to appear by tying a new US account to the console. It worked once, but the result failed to be replicated. This could only mean that Sony Interactive Entertainment may still be testing the feature.
The possible availability of Apple Music on the PS5 may be a sign of SIE and the iPhone maker working more closely together. Previously we saw PS5 owners being given six months of Apple TV Plus subscription for free. And all you need to do to get it is tie your PlayStation and Apple accounts together on the console. Neither account needs to be brand new, and you can claim the six months even if you’re still running the Apple TV Plus trial.
