Xiaomi earlier today has revealed its plan to launch a new smartphone series called Civi. According to the announcement the company’s Weibo page, it will be launched next week on 27 September.
Xiaomi didn’t give out much information about the Civi series — or any information for that matter. Instead of any specs or rendered teasers, the company just posted an image with the date of the launch and two hands spelling out “CV”, as well as a video with a bunch of random people making the same gesture and yelling out the acronym.
The post describes the phone (or phones) as “fashionable and diversified designs and innovative imaging technology” and seems to be marketed towards younger men or as the post says, “self-confident young man.”
Rumours are currently running rampant that Civi will replace Xiaomi’s CC lineup, which itself stands for “Chic & Cool”. The CC series was heavily geared towards a younger demographic with its focus on aesthetics and stand-out style.
Furthermore, prominent leaker Ice Universe has hinted that the Civi phone will be Xiaomi’s most beautiful release of the year. However, there’s no word yet on whether this will be a China-only launch or a global release, so we’ll just have to wait for the launch event next week to find out more.
